W Ritchie has previously done work for me at a tenement building. I was impressed with work and professionalism. I then required guttering work at my property and W Ritchie were able to advise me and carry out an excellent job.

Repairs to roof. Job took a week and was carried out when Bill said it would be done. Highly recommend Bill and his team for quality workmanship. His business is in demand which is largely down to positive feedback for his services

Mr Ritchie is a busy and much in demand builder, so we had to wait a while for his services, but on the day he and his assistant did a sterling job, explained things well, and tidied up after they had finished. We are happy with the repairs they did.

We used W A Ritchie & Sons when we first moved into our house in 2018 and found what we thought might have been damp. Bill came out very quickly and reassured us that the roof was fine and it looked to him to be an old leak that just hadn’t been redecorated. He didn’t charge us for coming out and I made sure to keep his details as the service he provided was fab. We recently noticed a small leak in our roof and contacted Bill again. It took a bit of time to arrange for him to come out to view the roof as he said he had had issues with his emails. He ended up texting me and we managed to arrange a date then. He viewed the roof and confirmed he would send a quote. I both text and emailed him over the weeks that followed to check when we should expect the quote but received no reply. Three weeks later I received the quote and responded to confirm I wanted to proceed with the work and asked when Bill was able to do the work and if he could confirm his bank details for the payment. I received no reply and instead received the exact same email with the quote a week later. I replied to again confirm I wanted to proceed, asked when the work could be done and explained that I had previously emailed. I again received no response to this however a roofer appeared with no notice at our door a few days later. Luckily my husband was in the house at the time however I then had to cancel my plans for the afternoon to make sure someone was home. The roofer never confirmed that he had finished the job or that he was leaving. I was skeptical about what happened as there had been no contact about it so tried emailing Bill again. Instead of replying to this, I got a generic email two weeks later with an invoice which said it was for the work carried out. I’m really disappointed at the complete lack of communication and this will probably prevent me from using or recommending this company. It’s such a shame as I had great service previously.

They took down a small chimney. They came and gave me a quote and within a short time carried out the work. They arrived promptly on the day and carried out the work in an efficient manner and cleared away afterwards. Thank you.

Work was required to refix conservatory roofing panels and prevent water leaks and a visit and quote was provided very quickly with the follow up to perform the work also in good time - very satisified.

Having had an issue with a previous roofer, Bill came out to quote our roofing issue during the Christmas holidays. He quickly diagnosed the issue and provided a quote that was reasonable and within our budget.
He communicated well with us & once agreed Billy completed a quality job & to a good standard.

I had a concern about a building issue in my house (possible subsidence). Bill called round and took a look. He then advised me that no building work was necessary and advised me on the best course of action. I was very taken by his approach and level of knowledge. As no work had been needed he refused to accept payment for his call and advice. I would not hesitate to call on him again should any building issue arise in the future and will happily pass his details to any friends who might enquire about builders.

Bill Ritchie removed the chimney on our bungalow, which was causing some leakage, and did a great job. He’s an experienced tradesman, and we’ll definitely use him again!

Mr Ritchie gave me two very competitively priced estimates, with one for a repair and the other to rebuild a Juliette ornamental balcony. When the scaffolding was erected, he established that only a repair was required, so the lower estimate. He provided estimates quickly after coming around the day after I contacted him.
There was no mess and the flower bed wasn't damaged.
I am very pleased with the work undertaken.

Replacement of quite a few roof tiles, repair and repainting of attic window frame. The closest I can get to examine the work is by ladder at edge of roof, but all looks good from there and everything seems watertight.

Slate and cement skew repairs to a tenement roof, followed by replacement of a damaged top-floor ceiling with a new plasterboard and skim coat ceiling.

High quality workmanship. Carefully protected the kitchen fittings that were left in the room. No collateral damage to my flat. Cleared up well after an inevitably filthy job.

I needed to have a skylight in my loft replaced with a velux window urgently to enable insulation to be installed. I chose W A Ritchie because of the reviews given to him as a trusted trader. Mr Ritchie and his workmate completed the job within a short time of my request making a superb job and left the loft the cleanest it had ever been. Another roofer working on a neighbour's property was very impressed at how the work was done. I would have no hesitation in using Mr Ritchie again or recommending him to others.

We needed work on our chimney. Harling had been dislodged though storm damage and gradual wear and tear. Bill Ritchie responded to our call quickly. In addition, as he had a gap between jobs, he got the work done quickly and efficiently within 2 weeks. The result was very neat, very difficult to see the difference between the new harling on the chimney and older harling on the wall below.

On this occasion Bill fitted zinc ridges to the hips and main roof ridge and repaired broken slates. He is always friendly, professional and reliable. we have used his services on a number of occasions and are always pleased with the quality of his work and feel confident that he is giving good advice, service and value for money. It is hard to find honest and reliable roofers which is why Bill is always so busy. We plan to use his services again in the near future to replace and insulate an area of flat roof.

My neighbours were having work done on their roof and I stopped to ask if there was any time for a couple of slates to be replaced on my roof whilst they were in the street. They were happy to help and fixed my roof in no time. Very reasonably priced too.

Contacted Bill to look at our roof as it was leaking after bad weather. He came out to look at the job quickly and advised broken tiles needed replaced, both Watergates cleared and any cracks repaired, gutters needed cleared and missing pointing on the ridge needed replaced. He was one of the cheaper quotes and seemed friendly and knowledgeable so went with him.

He was busy so told us there may be a wait until he got around to the job which was fine. He then came around and replaced broken roof tiles and we received the invoice. I went to look at the work and noticed none of the missing ridge pointing had been replaced and still seemed to me to be debris in the watergates so phoned and left a voicemail and also emailed asking for a call to discuss the work, never received any communication, but he did come around just over a week later to do the ridge, but still never any contact from him.

Good value for money, but customer service could be improved.
