Our job involved repair of damage to harling and repainting on a gable wall. It was very reasonably priced and was completed quickly and tidily. Bill was a pleasure to deal with and we’ll use this trader for any other building or roofing works.

Having used Bill in the past to reroof our house, we asked him to install new uPVC fascia boards to our extension, which we are very pleased with. Bill is very friendly and professional. Arrived when promised and tidied up well on completion. Would not hesitate to recommend.

We had some slates replaced and ridge tiles repaired/ replaced.
Mr Ritchie is a busy and much in demand builder, so we had to wait a while for his services, but on the day he and his assistant did a sterling job, explained things well, and tidied up after they had finished. We are happy with the repairs they did.

Bill undertook repair works to our roof guttering, fitted a downpipe bracket and investigated a potentially blocked rainwater downpipe. A friendly service and happy to clarify what he was planning to undertake etc. We have used him many times before and would recommend.

Ritchie’s built a communal garden wall putting in place a concrete foundation.

We used W A Ritchie & Sons when we first moved into our house in 2018 and found what we thought might have been damp. Bill came out very quickly and reassured us that the roof was fine and it looked to him to be an old leak that just hadn’t been redecorated. He didn’t charge us for coming out and I made sure to keep his details as the service he provided was fab. We recently noticed a small leak in our roof and contacted Bill again. It took a bit of time to arrange for him to come out to view the roof as he said he had had issues with his emails. He ended up texting me and we managed to arrange a date then. He viewed the roof and confirmed he would send a quote. I both text and emailed him over the weeks that followed to check when we should expect the quote but received no reply. Three weeks later I received the quote and responded to confirm I wanted to proceed with the work and asked when Bill was able to do the work and if he could confirm his bank details for the payment. I received no reply and instead received the exact same email with the quote a week later. I replied to again confirm I wanted to proceed, asked when the work could be done and explained that I had previously emailed. I again received no response to this however a roofer appeared with no notice at our door a few days later. Luckily my husband was in the house at the time however I then had to cancel my plans for the afternoon to make sure someone was home. The roofer never confirmed that he had finished the job or that he was leaving. I was skeptical about what happened as there had been no contact about it so tried emailing Bill again. Instead of replying to this, I got a generic email two weeks later with an invoice which said it was for the work carried out. I’m really disappointed at the complete lack of communication and this will probably prevent me from using or recommending this company. It’s such a shame as I had great service previously.

They took down a small chimney. They came and gave me a quote and within a short time carried out the work. They arrived promptly on the day and carried out the work in an efficient manner and cleared away afterwards. Thank you.
