I was a bit wary about using an electician found online without having any feedback from family or friends but no-one i knew had used the services of an electrician recently so i was sort of between a rock and a hard place.

When i stumbled on Edinburgh Trusted Trader and saw the website had affiliations with Edinburgh City Council and Police Scotland, coupled with user feedback, i took a punt and contacted Andrew from Lumen-Electrical.

My first contact with Andrew was via email through his website and it did take a few days for him to reply but when he did he apologised and things moved swiftly from there.

I only needed a bathroom LED centre light fitted, because the light is also wired to an extractor fan the wiring colours left me clueless so i felt it best to use a professional electrician.

I needn't have worried, we arranged a date and time (11:30am) and Andrew arrived at exactly 11:30am... his work was exemplary, quick chat about what was required and he set about his work... laid a ground sheet which he later rolled up to take away any excess discarded material (clipped cable sheath etc).

What i thought would be a 2 minute job for him actually took almost 30 minutes, that wasn't his fault.
He had to enlarge the hole of the light fitting i'd previously bought in order to get all the wiring from the ceiling to the connectors in the light fitting, he also had to add extra length to the existing cabling to reach the light fitting connectors.

After he left i removed the light fitting cover to see exactly what took him so long and what i saw was almost a work of art...
(FYI, in the attached pic my camera isn't showing the cable colours well, the two connectors at the top of the pic were added by Andrew in order to wire the fitting.

I would without hesitation use and recommend Andrew again.

Really impressed with Andrew's professionalism and conduct. We asked him to perform an EICR for our property, and he did so efficiently and with an excellent demeanour. He was friendly and approachable while he worked, and his communication throughout the job and in arranging work was faultless. We even asked him to look over the work of another company after we were unhappy with it, and he was very happy to come out and assess this. One of the best tradesmen in Edinburgh I have had the pleasure of employing.

Andrew fitted down lighters in my living room and I have to say he completed an excellent job, Andrew is an excellent electrician and I would have no hesitation in hiring him again. Very tidy worker who on the initial estimate was very informative of what would be required. A 5 out of 5 from me .

Andrew is brilliant - totally professional, 100% reliable and trustworthy (I had no qualms leaving him in the house to the job, lock up behind him and post my keys back through my letterbox), so helpful, coming up with creative solutions to electrical challenges in my property, and great value. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him.

I contacted Andrew regarding a small repair and he got back in touch the same day and agreed to follow up the next day and make the repair. He was upfront about the cost and arrived at the time he’d suggested. Carried out the work without any problem and overall was very professional so I would definitely use again or recommend to anyone

Andrew attended to investigate an 'ongoing' problem with 'lack of hot water' at an elderly relative's property. Problem was traced, with a 'temporary electrical fix' made, to ensure hot water was available. Will be returning, in near future, to install the required items for a permanent fix.

Replaced old lights in the stairway of our flats with newer LED lights, service was great. Provided prompt & reasonable quote, turned up exactly on time and lights are exactly as described.

Andrew provided an excellent service when my mother needed some work done in her home. She is 99 years old and required the light in her kitchen to be fixed quickly so that her carers could carry out their duties in making meals and other essential things for her. I would recommend Andrew to everyone as he is reliable and carries out his work effectively within short timescales.

Andrew came out to fix my lighting after a couple of joiners had screwed in to one of the wires when putting my front door back after fitting new flooring. In no time, Andrew was able to identify where the problem was, take the door frame off, replace the wiring and refit the door (with more appropriate screws). Andrew was really friendly, knowledgeable and very reasonably priced. Thanks again for all your help!

Communal stair left in darkness after stair lighting went out. Since Edinburgh City Council left all private house holders Literally in the dark when it came to stair lighting repairs we didn't know who to contact until I came across Lumen.
Andrew was in touch straight away and emailed an estimate, it was the most reasonable and within a few days the job was done.
Andrew was very pleasant, did the work to replace one unit and service the others within an hour, and tidied up.
We are all very pleased and would definitely use his services again.
Lumen is now in my Favourite folder.

Requirement was for stair lighting inspection and replacement since council no longer responsible for this service.

Contacted Andrew on Wednesday and he came as promised on Friday am.

Andrew was polite and courteous throughout. I would be more than happy to use him again.
