Andrew is brilliant - totally professional, 100% reliable and trustworthy (I had no qualms leaving him in the house to the job, lock up behind him and post my keys back through my letterbox), so helpful, coming up with creative solutions to electrical challenges in my property, and great value. Andrew fitted down lighters in my living room and I have to say he completed an excellent job, Andrew is an excellent electrician and I would have no hesitation in hiring him again. Very tidy worker who on the initial estimate was very informative of what would be required. A 5 out of 5 from me .

Really impressed with Andrew's professionalism and conduct. We asked him to perform an EICR for our property, and he did so efficiently and with an excellent demeanour. He was friendly and approachable while he worked, and his communication throughout the job and in arranging work was faultless. We even asked him to look over the work of another company after we were unhappy with it, and he was very happy to come out and assess this. One of the best tradesmen in Edinburgh I have had the pleasure of employing.

I was a bit wary about using an electician found online without having any feedback from family or friends but no-one i knew had used the services of an electrician recently so i was sort of between a rock and a hard place.

When i stumbled on Edinburgh Trusted Trader and saw the website had affiliations with Edinburgh City Council and Police Scotland, coupled with user feedback, i took a punt and contacted Andrew from Lumen-Electrical.

My first contact with Andrew was via email through his website and it did take a few days for him to reply but when he did he apologised and things moved swiftly from there.

I only needed a bathroom LED centre light fitted, because the light is also wired to an extractor fan the wiring colours left me clueless so i felt it best to use a professional electrician.

I needn't have worried, we arranged a date and time (11:30am) and Andrew arrived at exactly 11:30am... his work was exemplary, quick chat about what was required and he set about his work... laid a ground sheet which he later rolled up to take away any excess discarded material (clipped cable sheath etc).

What i thought would be a 2 minute job for him actually took almost 30 minutes, that wasn't his fault.
He had to enlarge the hole of the light fitting i'd previously bought in order to get all the wiring from the ceiling to the connectors in the light fitting, he also had to add extra length to the existing cabling to reach the light fitting connectors.

After he left i removed the light fitting cover to see exactly what took him so long and what i saw was almost a work of art...
(FYI, in the attached pic my camera isn't showing the cable colours well, the two connectors at the top of the pic were added by Andrew in order to wire the fitting.

I would without hesitation use and recommend Andrew again.

Extremely happy with Andrew at Lumen and the work completed. Contacted him on a Wednesday evening by email, prompt responses back and was round the next morning to diagnose and replace a central heating/hot water timer which had failed.

I approached Andrew to replace some ceiling lights, and while he was here I asked to advise on another potential lighting replacement, which he has since done. He undertook all the work quickly and efficiently and clearly takes pride in doing his work to a high quality, as well as being a very pleasant guy. I am very happy to have found Andrew and will ask him to do any future electrical work I need.

We used Andrew to change our lighting. Andrew replied to my emails promptly and arranged to visit in order to provide me with an accurate estimate. He arrived on time and worked efficiently. His standard of workmanship was high and he made sure we were happy with positions of switches/ light fittings before going ahead. We were very happy with his work and would definitely use him again.

Andrew came along on a Saturday morning to fix a faulty stairwell light. He was helpful, cheerful and top to deal with. I’d happily use him again and I’d be sure he’d do a quality job.

Right from the initial enquiry, Andrew corresponded promptly via email to work out exactly what we needed.

On the day Andrew turned up eactly on time and completed the work to my complete satisfaction. Some key points to highlight:

1. Had everything with him he needed for the job
2. Tidied up (including hoovering the floors) after he finished
3. Took away all surplus materials and boxes etc.

I was left with nothing to do apart from dispose of the old light fittings!
