Jimmy and Calum did two jobs for me. The first was the repointing of my garden boundary wall from late Nov 23 to early March 24. This was the wettest, windiest winter and there was a lot of wall. The corner where a neighbour's ivy was invading the wall and lifting the copestones was well managed from my side of the wall by the stonemasons with a good result. They also repointed the bottom 1.5m of the house wall, replaced 4 quoin stones and did some stone replacement and repairs with stone repair mortar on the lower front bay. This work was done in summer and autumn 24.
Jimmy is a perfectionist and a master at his profession. His colour matching for the stone repair mortar is good. Calum's repointing got unsolicited compliments from a builder providing me with quotes for other work. This is a small family business who work well as a team and produce excellent results that they should be proud of. Problem solving is good. Communication is good. I would definitely use them again.

Had lime mortar pointing repairs done to our victorian house in Dunfermline. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jimmy - he's a great guy who's work is first class. Jimmy and his son did a brilliant job on our place, replacing several large stones, patching a few smaller areas, and re-pointing. The work is of very high quality, including the repair of some substandard work by someone else from years ago. We live in a conservation area, so it is important that the right materials are used, and that the stonemason knows the trade well. Jimmy and his son did an excellent job removing a 1210mm cracked coping stone and upright stone from our front garden wall. This was replaced with coursehill sandstone, cut perfectly to match our existing wall. Jimmy worked so quietly and with such care that you would barely notice when he was on site and is a genuinely lovely person. Jimmy and his team did a great job rebuilding our front garden wall after a newly-qualified driver crashed through it. They cleared the area and worked diligently in all weathers. He also sourced difficult-to-find stones for the tops of the pillars. This was all done at a very reasonable price.

From the outset of repointing our garden wall JMS Stonemasons were well organised, arrived promptly and gave verbal quote, few days later a written one which was very reasonable. On starting the job they arrived on time, worked all day apart from lunch and coffee breaks, and cleaned up everything when job completed.

We have used JMS stonemason for a variety of stone related jobs at our property. we have been using him for nearly twenty years. Jimmy advised on priorities for repair of stonework on our 150 year old property, and explained options. Once we'd agreed work, he was great at keeping in touch and letting us know what work he would be doing and when. We appreciated this as we often work from home and have a dog!

Work involved pointing and repairing one high and one low stone garden wall and replacing the step on a garden path. Jimmy of JMS turned up on time to estimate job, returned a reasonable estimate, promptly, came and did job as per estimate, all in timely, competent and friendly manner. He and his son Jamie and colleague Michael were always pleasant to talk to. Happy with work and delighted to get job done. JMS were straightforward to deal with. Needed some slabs put down in the garden and also demolishing of a wall and rebuilding with original stonework a window sill, step keeping with the original character and type of stone. Very professional and whilst we were away for the week Jimmy kept in contact with us giving progress updates and facetimed us part way through work. Before work started Jimmy sent us many examples of stone type and colour so we could make a decision. The lads that did the work were very polite and courteous and even removed rubbish from a previous tradey.

The finished work is exactly what we were after and they worked around another tradey that was fitting windows/doors no problems.

Will definitely be using Jimmy’s services again. I knew I had made the right decision using this firm to carry out repairs to my front bay window. Jimmy was professional and clearly explained at all times how he was going to fix my deteriorating stonework and even fixed a small hole in my kitchen window along with carrying out some pointing. Communication from start to finish was excellent. Couldn’t have asked for more from a family run business that takes pride in what they do. We have used JMS Stonemason several times over the years and have always been very satisfied with the speed and quality of work carried out. The range of work JMS has carried out for us includes the complete rebuild of one of our stone chimneys, replacement of a window jamb (including hand tooling to match adjacent stones) and repointing the back wall of our house.
