JA Plumbing Services offers a wide range of services including bathroom design and installation,full central heating services from a radiator change to a full central heating system and everything in between.

John installed some new radiators and moved one to another wall in my 1960's bungalow. Although what essentially were small jobs it was important for me to have this done well. From start to finish it was clear John is someone who takes pride in his work and values the importance of keeping the customer informed of plans. He attended when he said he would, provided a quote very promptly then gave a clear expectation on when he could do the work. After the works were completed you would never know he had visited as he was extremely neat and tidy.
John has all the credentials you would ask for in a tradesman - reliable, keeps you informed of works, provides balanced advice, value for money with quality workmanship.

I had my main bathroom refurbished in November 2024 by John. I am absolutely delighted with the new bathroom. The works involved rip-out of the old bathroom and installation of a new bathroom, including plastering, tiling and decorating. John really cares about the job and the finish is exceptional, literally millimetre perfect (and the design was not straightforward). He clearly takes a pride in his work, more so than any other tradesmen I’ve known. I really appreciated that John was very approachable and, throughout the job, he was happy to discuss the work being carried out. His communication is first class and I was kept up to date with the plan and start times each day.
The team were hard working and friendly and always turned up exactly as scheduled. John arranged for the various trades to be on-site as necessary. This included joiner, electrician, plasterer, tiler and decorator. Given the project involved a substantial strip out of the old bathroom, I was impressed how quickly the works progressed. This was due to John and his team working long hours.
After a previous horrendous bathroom refurb (different fitter), I was nervous. However, this was like night and day from my previous experience with no stress. We had our shower cabinet replaced by John with the help of Gary. I have had great difficulty finding a plumber to do this work, and had been let down by someone who said he would do the job(in that case repair existing cabinet), but after several months had to find someone else. A friend gave me John's name, as she had been very happy with his work, and had no hesitation in recommending him, although she did say he was always very busy.
John agreed to visit us very quickly and gave very good advice. He arranged for the work to be done within a fortnight. He and Gary arrived when he said they would and carried out the work of replacing our shower cabinet in about seven hours. They were very pleasant, hard working and left everything very tidy.
I will certainly use them again in the future.

John had done our bathroom for us previously and was my first call when a long standing unchecked tenant left my parents’ property in a genuinely shocking state. This was the train spotting toilet and a job many would have turned down. John and his team transformed the toilet and stripped out and refloored and rewalled a kitchen and shower room including replacing rotten floor joists. He fitted radiators and arranged redecoration and editors work in other rooms. If only all trades could be this reliable, straightforward on pricing and good at one point of responsive friendly communication. I have recommended John to others previously and would 100% again. Thank you for helping with the worst toilet in Scotland and being able to laugh about the state of the place!

Had our bathroom totally refurbished, old bathroom completely ripped out and new bathroom installed. John from J A plumbing services and his team did an amazing job, we went on holiday while it was being done and came back to a beautiful new bathroom, you wouldn't know anyone had been in, so clean and tidy. All products supplied by Wild boar bathrooms on John's recommendation and we were delighted with the high quality products and installation.

Would I use John again to refit my bathroom? 100% YES. What an amazing job John has done to transfer my old scabby ensuite into a modern and chic room. From start to finish John has been great. He turned up on time, had great communication throughout the job, worked hard to complete the job in 3 days (although there was a slight delay due to a couple of items not turning up on time which was outside his control). He has fantastic attention to detail and very tidy. A really nice guy too! I would recommend John to family and friends.

My Mum’s hot water tank burst and flooded her bathroom. In a panic Mum called a company who came out to help her. The long and short they let her down.
Through Trusted Trader we found John. He was absolutely amazing. Came out gave us a quote.

John and his team were very efficient, ensuring floors were protected before starting. Installation was completed in a day, all debris removed and floors hoovered before leaving.

We struggled to find a plumber to renovate our bathroom and cloakroom, then happily someone recommended John. His quote was quick and competitive, he offered good advice and advised us every step of the way. John and his mate Kevin are extremely hard working, organised and easy to talk to guys. They left our house very tidy, with a really smart bathroom and cloakroom. We will definitely be using John’s services in the future.

John was very easy to work with, happy to explain his suggestions and to answer any questions we had. We obtained a number of quotes for our new boiler and John's quote was very competitive.
The work was carried out on the date discussed and on budget. The weather on the day was absolutely awful, with strong winds and rain, but before commencing the work John and his team made sure our carpets and floors were well protected. After the work was completed John made sure the house was left tidy, hoovering and clearing all the rubbish.
I would happily recommend John and his work to anyone who is looking for a plumber.

John is an exceptional plumber. Him and his team worked extremely hard and they were professional, reliable, personable and always on time. Right from the initial contact, John had kept in touch and always answered any queries quickly. The refit of our bathroom was done in a good and timely manner and progress photos were also taken too.

We have recently completed the remodelling of our cloakroom/toilet. John Allan did a splendid job for us. He provided his estimate, kept in good communication with us up to and during the project, and left everything neat and tidy on completion. John was exactly what we wanted - not only extremely competent, but also able to work things through when the instructions for some of the kit were obscure to say the least.
A very nice, helpful and courteous guy. We would have no hesitation in approaching him for further work in the future.

After seeing other works completed with John and his team l knew that I did not need to get any other quotations to strip out and remodel my bathroom. John surveyed my bathroom and his knowledge and enthusiasm was first class recommending that he could reposition wc and towel rail to get more room for me, he provided me with a quotation very quickly and detailed. I agreed to his price and went away on holiday leaving him and his team alone in my house to carry out the installation trusting him completely. While on holiday John kept me updated on a daily basis with progress photographs.
I returned from holiday to find an amazing transformation on my bathroom which left me so happy with the result, my house was also left spic and span after the renovation.

I cannot praise John and Kevin highly enough for their hand work in taking the floor back to a state it could be then effectively worked on. The tiler, Krzysztof completed the tiling to a very high standard.

Being new to Midlothian, we had no prior knowledge of tradesman so during the extensive renovations to our home, we have largely taken a chance on people through sites like trusted trader. And it has paid off!
John recently installed 4 new bathrooms for us. Given the scale of the work, we organised for it to be done while we were away on 2 weeks holidays. Given the scale of the works, we weren’t expecting the full job to be done in this time but John and his team worked incredibly hard to achieve this for us and we returned back to an (almost) finished job and an incredibly clean house!
I cannot recommend John highly enough. From the very beginning, communication has been excellent, he is very reliable and a genuinely nice guy. The standard of work is fantastic and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
John recently installed 4 new bathrooms for us. Given the scale of the work, we organised for it to be done while we were away on 2 weeks holidays. Given the scale of the works, we weren’t expecting the full job to be done in this time but John and his team worked incredibly hard to achieve this for us and we returned back to an (almost) finished job and an incredibly clean house!
I cannot recommend John highly enough. From the very beginning, communication has been excellent, he is very reliable and a genuinely nice guy. The standard of work is fantastic and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

We had a leak in our shower cubicle which we thought might have to be replaced. John said it only required to be re-sealed which saved us a fortune. We found John through this website rather than a personal recommendation but feel like we struck gold. He was helpful from start to finish- helpful suggestions for products we might not have considered, but also willing to use whatever fittings we wanted rather than using his own supplier. He provided a estimate promptly and accommodated various changes to that and nothing ever seemed to be a problem or trouble. He rearranged original dates to suit when we could move out to meet lockdown restrictions. He arranged and subcontracted work like decorators and window renovations with reliable quality workers. His work is to a very high standard and everything left tidy with any small snags sorted quickly. It was all completed on time and on budget - he did some extra insulating of a wall without adding to the estimate. Highly recommended. I’ve added before, during and after photos.

I recently chose John to do a complete floor to ceiling bathroom refurbishment in my daughter's flat. I liked his 'can do' attitude from the start, unlike many tradesmen where everything is a problem.
The end result is simply stunning and my daughter and I are absolutely delighted with it. The job was completed ahead of schedule, when I noticed a couple of very minor snags John came back the next day and sorted it out.

This was a rush job that tenants had to move into a property in 3 days.

John was proactive from my initial contact with him. He let me know when he would arrive to look at the work to be done. He helped with suggestions and sent a prompt quote. A date was booked in for the work to be done which started as planned. John was always punctual, kept me informed and referred to me as work progressed. Johns work is of a high standard, and was completed a day earlier than estimated.
I can recommend John and will use him again in the future.

Had full bathroom refurbishment done. New bathroom suite, plastering, joinery work, electrical work, fully tiled, new radiator, and external downpipes fixed. JA Plumbing arrived on the day they said they would and completed on time, tiling on a Saturday to achieve this. Friendly, efficient and tidy.
Minor issue after completion which was fixed within 24 hours.

JA plumbing recently installed a completely new bathroom for me and I would absolutely recommend them. From beginning to end, JA plumbing were brilliant. They took the time to go through options to get exactly what we wanted with our budget in mind. Throughout the work I found JA plumbing were reliable, hard-working, friendly and honest - all work was completed to a high standard. It was a great bonus that they tidied up after themselves too. We asked John to remove our p shaped bath and shower (its glass screen had shattered) and instal an new walk-in type shower, plus re tile the walls as neccessary, and fix our poorly flushing toilet as well. There was only one week to do it in. John was very careful to look at all angles to see if it was possible, and reassured us with help about choice of tray and glass. He did it and we were amazed really. We now have the lovely shower we needed and wanted - and our toilet flushes much better! A great job, JA Plumbing Services!

Refurbished our bathroom following a toilet leak which had destroyed the floorboards. They took the existing units including toilet and basin with extreme care so as not to disturb the existing tiles. They then did a great job of fitting a brand new vanity unit into the space, which was a challenge given that it had to fit into a non standard size space. Really pleased with the result - looks like we’ve had a whole new bathroom thanks to their attention to detail. The guys were friendly, on time and communication straightforward. Would definitely recommend.

I have just had old bathroom cleared out and a complete new one installed with a walk in shower instead of a bath. I was most impressed with the workmanship, the guys were extremely pleasant and helpful and certainly left my house very tidy. Very positive experience using John to upgrade our cloakroom. John carried out the work in the agreed timeframe and in a clean and tidy manner. JA Plumbing were top class. All appointments from estimate to completion on time. Very reasonable price and full explanation and advice of boilers for us to choose.
This was a big job as it entailed 3 rooms being disturbed. All mess kept to minimum and all rooms spotless when job completed.

John has fitted an en suite shower room for us. He had really good ideas for getting the best use out of the space available. His work was excellent and carried out in the time specified. He has also fitted a boiler for us. At some point we hope to replace our bathroom and plan to use him for that. Would definitely recommend.
