IMC came on board midway through a project, which is a tough task in itself. Their professionalism was worlds apart from our previous contractor.

They took on board previous challenges/issues and addressed them with their expertise. All works within the quote/agreed scope came within the budget. Additional work instructed was accepted and came at reasonable cost. We had no surprise costs from them and everything was discussed throughout the works.

The staff were all courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and completed with works in a safe manner.

Did an excellent job on the stonework building garden steps and forming a new external doorway in a tenement flat. Stone matches nicely. Some delays in starting the project due to overrun on previous jobs. Would definitely use again for a job that demands a high-quality approach.

Iain and the team recently carried out some repairs to our front facade which included two mullion replacements to our bay window, mortar repairs and lithomix repairs to the base of our bay window. We are really pleased with the end result. The guys were friendly, professional, efficient and carried out the work to a really high standard. We had to wait a while for the work to begin, but once started it was undertaken with speed and ease, with Iain communicating well throughout the process. Would not hesitate to recommend or to use again.

On 1 January 2022, someone drove an Audi through our waist high front stone wall. The wall was smashed into individual stones along one side if the gate, the iron gate bent out of shape. Not the best start to the New Year that I’ve ever had.

Iain and his team took immense care to replace the wall with high quality stone materials, prepared by hand to match the detailing on the other side of the gate, perfect rendering and even got a blacksmith along to fix the gate. Work was communicated well, the team polite, tidy and on time and the finished work (once aged) will be indistinguishable from the other half of the wall. Highly recommend.

Iain and his team built a new wall for us as well as repointing an old wall. All the guys were very friendly and efficient. They are real craftsmen and the result is a thing of beauty. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

The heavy wrought-iron gate at the entrance to our property came off its hinges due to crumbling stone-work. IMC dismantled the stone arch-way and re-built sections of wall either side of the arch adding five new stones and worked with a black-smith to re-rehang the gate.
The job was completed according to original estimate with adjustments to account for the new stones, and the site left neat and tidy at the end of each working day.
We are very happy with the end result.
IMC have done a lot of work in the Grange area of Edinburgh and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Re-masticking of 7 old sash windows, one new window cill, and organised 3 broken window panes to be replaced. Excellent, fast and friendly, as usual.

IMC rebuilt our chimney stack in February 2019. We were lucky with the weather, which meant that when they started the job, they were on site everyday and finished the job quickly. They re-used original stone, when possible, which not only helped to keep costs down, but retained the character of the house, which was built in 1823.

The team were punctual each morning and completed the work with minimal disruption to ourselves and tided up the site at the end of the job removing all rubbish etc.

Iain sent emails at each stage of the work in progress to ourselves and our neighbours, with whom we share the stack, to keep us informed of the progress, which I found really helpful.

I can’t recommend Iain and his friendly colleagues enough. They have done some really lovely stonework on our old house. Tidy and on time, I have recommended them to plenty of other.

A very sensible approach to the task of working with old structures, where it is quite difficult to predict in advance what you will have to deal with. Also a good communicator - so, no surprises! - which is always very important. So the project was easy to manage together.

Used IMC to replace a defective lintel above my bedroom window. They provided a reasonable quote - was the middle of the 3 I got. Good communication and very professional. Once I had decided to use them, the work was booked in quickly and carried out very professionally, and finished quickly. Didn't notice any mess so there was either none or it was cleaned up. No complaints with the work carried out, the replacement lintel seems perfect with no issues at all. Would highly recommend them

IMC have been a pleasure to work with. Right from the start the advice at quotation stage, the approach to the conservation of our B listed building, the quality of the workmanship, and friendliness of his team. Whilst stonework is never a clean or quiet process they always tidied up, were considerate and always turned up when they said they would! In particular the ability to replace the single piece stone mullions like for like was important to us which many competitors were unable to do.
We are very happy with the outcome of the work to the front facade and will be using them again for the next phases including the rear facade and chimneys.
