We commissioned Derek Christie Plumbing to completely remodel our bathroom. This included ripping out all the old 70’s interior, removing the stud walls of an old cupboard and replacing it with a new doorway to make the space much bigger, installing large-format tiles and installing all the plumbing and electricals. With all of the work completed, we can safely say that Derek and his team are amazing. Derek is incredibly professional, calm and positive, and clearly takes a great deal of pride in the excellent work he and his team deliver. They were very accommodating of design changes (for example, when we discovered a recess in the wall that had been covered up, Derek and the team were more than happy to turn adjust the designs and turn it into shelf space for us).
The joinery and electrical work was flawless and the tiles look better than we ever imagined. With such a big project to undertake, we were really nervous leading up to it but Derek made the whole process seem really easy – it was clear from day one that we were in very safe hands.
Derek was also instrumental in the design process itself, as we had quite a few options and didn’t know which to pick or which arrangement would be most suitable, but Derek’s expertise ensured that the final design maximised the space and potential of the room. In short, the team were an absolute pleasure to work with and thanks to Derek Christie Plumbing, we now have our dream bathroom!

In 2 bathrooms, stripped existing taps, supplied and fitted 2 new taps & wastes, fitted new ballcocks, new syphons & new fixing bolts onto existing WC cisterns.

Fully recommend Derek. He explained all the work required very clearly. He is a professional, organised and extremely tidy and helpful. He came when he said he would and kept us up to date at all times with supplies and timescales.

Derek has supplied and installed underfloor heating throughout our house along with fitting 3 bathrooms and a host of other work that was needed throughout the project.

I couldn't recommend highly enough. Nothing was a problem, if an issue came up (as there is always going to be with a job of this size) then he came to us with solutions and options rather than the problem.

Tidied up as he went, arrived when he said he would and kept in touch to make sure if anything came up I was aware.

Derek has been my go-to plumber for seven years, and has done multiple jobs for me, a couple of which were urgent, and most of which were a bit tricky in one way or another. I have no hesitation in recommending him. He , gives great advice, explains things very clearly and gives clear timescales for the work while charging very reasonable prices. He is fast but meticulous, and recently returned spontaneously to check that a leak had not recurred - what other plumber does that?

We had our downstairs bathroom completely gutted and redone. As others have said it's been an absolute pleasure to deal with Derek. He's so professional, polite, calm and just such a lovely man. The work was done to a very high standard and we are absolutely delighted. Not only would be recommend Derek we are hoping to use him again to redo our family bathroom. Nothing is too much trouble. He was so tidy, explained everything that was going on and at times when there were a few hiccups along the way, he remained calm and reassured us that it all be fine and sorted one way or another. We can't thank him enough for the service we received from start to finish.

Derek completed two jobs for us: the conversion of an upstairs walk-in cupboard to a cloakroom toilet and a complete renovation of our downstairs bathroom to a shower room. From the initial consultation to completion, Derek was a consumate professional and a real gentleman. The jobs were completed on time and budget and to a standard which exceeded our expectations. He coordinated all the trades and explained every step, ensuring we were fully involved in any decisions. We're absolutely delighted with the results and would recommend Derek without hesitation.

Derek came as promised to fix my leaking shower box, which was actually connected initially by different plumbers. Those didn't show interest to come back and fix the problems, so I was forced to call Derek, who saved me from further troubles, and charged very small amount. Also as a person Derek is pleasant to talk to, he is polite and educated. Definitely would recommend his services ❤️

Due to several ongoing problems Derek fitted a new hot water cylinder in a cramped & dirty attic space, upgrading us to an unvented (mains pressure) system.
He coordinated a small team to provide electrical, joinery & plumbing services as required, leaving a very clean & tidy installation which was vastly superior to the original. Work was completed with minimal disruption, under (a very reasonable) estimated cost and ahead of time.
Racking my brain to find negatives I can only say that his phone sometimes sent duplicate messages!
A first-class tradesman I would confidently recommend to anyone.

I contacted Derek to refurbish my main bathroom and was very happy with the whole experience!

Replace bathroom heated towel rail and also a new sink tap. Very happy to go 5 star rating and to recommend Derek. Everything went to plan with no issues. Derek also did work for us last year removing an old walk in shower unit and tiling and then fitting bath with shower head and wall panels. Obviously very happy with his work then as well. Our family also use Derek for plumbing and heating work.

We found Derek via the Trusted Trader website, we could not be happier to find him. Very professional, highly skillful, very clean afterwards, and competitive on costs. We looked for several other companies, but they requested a ridiculous amount of money for just a shower installation in a bath, which according to them would take 3-5 days to be done. Derek did in 6 hours! The details and the diligence to carry on the job was quite impressive. I would recommend him without hesitation, and I hope he could find a spot in his busy calendar to fix other things in our bathrooms.

Efficient, clean everything left neat and tidy, we were impressed with how well everything was organised, would definitely recommend.

Derek came to rectify works that had been done through an Adaptation Grant with City of Edinburgh Council to change bathroom into wet room. He resolved all of the issues I had with the toilet, sink and shower pump. He was skilfully able to problem solve the issues and rectify them. Excellent communication via text/phone. Always on time, clean and tidy at all times. Very clear on the work he was proposing. This is the fourth time I’ve asked Derek to do work for me. All jobs have been completed to excellent standards. I would have no hesitation in recommending Derek to you.

We decided to completely renovate our bathroom as the previous job was DIY by previous owner so not really v good. Derek quoted a reasonable price and we had seen his work done at a friends round the corner so were happy to use his services. The renovation was great and there were a couple of issues (related to products supplied, not Derek's skills) that were sorted quickly by him. Neighbours even commented that they didn't hear too muich noise so have engaged him for work aswell! I would definately recommend Dereks bathroom renovation services!
