Compass Roofing Ltd was established by Scott J Miller, Managing Director, in 1989. Based in central Edinburgh, Compass Roofing Ltd are well equipped to service Edinburgh and throughout the central belt. The company has an excellent reputation in both private and commercial sectors, from the smallest roof repair to roofing contracts valuing £250K.
Our roof work is carried out by our team of qualified tradesmen and CITB trained apprentices. All our Operatives hold current CSCS cards relating to their trade.
Scott J Miller Managing Director is responsible for estimating, purchasing, and health and safety, whilst Kenneth F Hunter Contracts Manager and Gary Moir Estimator takes care of insuring all contracts are carried out to our usual high standard. The company recently became qualified installers of Alwitra Single Ply Roofing Membrane. This material comes with a 20 year latent defect guarantee, that gives clients piece of mind. Compass Roofing Ltd pride themselves on their honesty and professionalism and ensure that their clients are provided with information about the work they are paying for. The firm believe that they are now in a very strong position to increase their client base, whilst still being able to provide the excellent service they are renowned for.
All our work can be insured, guaranteed and fully protected by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors Limited.

Compass roofing carried out a repair of my cast iron gutters and painting of all the gutters and drainpipes. I was very impressed with the job that was carried out, the quality of the work and the pleasant manner and proffessional attitude of all the staff. It was not an easy job at all as almost everything was done on a high ladder. I would have no hesitation in using Compass again.

The steep roof of our pre-1830 shared tenement building was leaking and needed a number of repairs, including to cracked lead. Compass Roofing arrived quickly to give an estimate, had a professional and reassuring attitude, talked through the cost, scope and durability of different repair options, was flexible with timing (I work unsocial hours) and reliable and responsible with access. They provided good documentation and photographs. Would recommend.

Called out for emergency repair work (Sunday evening) on a roof access hatch during high winds. Callout charge wasn't cheap but they arrived quickly and did the best patch that could be done in the situation.

We had a leaking roof due to storm damage. Compass Roofing responded to my call quickly and got roofers out to do a temporary fix very quickly, even though it was a Saturday afternoon and getting dark. Very happy with the service.

The job appraiser was very knowledgeable as expected but also took the time to educate me in elements of roof structure and repair.
He thought of alternative working procedures to bring the cost of the job down whilst still achieving a repair identical to other roofers’ proposals.
Looking at the central management of the company, the customer service provided was excellent, particularly during pandemic restrictions. I was kept well informed and a niche repair time requirement was accommodated.
I’m very happy with Compass’ service.

Four different jobs, two roof repairs and two stopping leaks through a wall. One involved a lot of rebuilding and coordination with another company, which worked very effectively and efficiently. We have kept using Compass because problems with our old house are assessed and solved, the work is done extremely well and quickly, with minimal disruption and everyone who comes to the house works hard and is no bother to have around.

The project team were extremely professional and gave outstanding customer service. The team guided by Lewis were highly skilled and very polite. They took great pride in doing a good job and kept me fully informed with regular updates and pictures during the installation.
The last time the roof looked so good was when the house was built 100+ years ago. What an amazing transformation.

Our roof was badly damaged by excessive winds in a storm back in May leaving us with an emergency situation. We called Compass Roofing who responded immediately by sending roofers out to make a temporary repair and made our roof watertight. They subsequently fully repaired the roof and have done an excellent job. They've been completely professional throughout each stage of the work and really good to deal with, always friendly,efficient and reliable. I've been extremely impressed by their service and would have no hesitation in highly recommending them.

Contacted Compass Roofing for an emergency roof repair after waking up to a leaking bedroom ceiling and we would highly recommend for roof repairs!
Phone answered immediately, and Scott chatted through our issues, and ensured roof was accessible before dispatching the roofers (to ensure they could access to fix the issue). Great communication, and advised the roofers would be with us by 10.30am - and indeed they were.
Issue quickly identified and fixed - the roofers took time to explain the issue, provide photos of the damage and replaced the 3 damaged slates.
They also suggested we could benefit from a further 1/2 day maintenance visit to assess the entire roof and identify any further damaged tiles, repair a leek in the rowan etc (we will certainly take their advice).
We were so impressed with professionalism, and how quickly they arrived to provide emergency repair, particularly during the tier 4 Scottish lockdown when several builders/roofing companies have had to temporarily close. Trusted traders indeed, a fare price for an emergency callout and highly recommend. Thanks again to Scott, Kelly and the roofers.

We had to have the entire roof and skylight replaced, and compass were very good through the entire process. We were able to get a much better skylight, double glazed, and the roof is water tight, and all happening around the pandemic and lockdowns.
The customer service really shines, though. We had our work go on over two lockdowns and Scott knew who we were and what was going on each time we called. And as delays meant our roof had two patches they were very rapid in responding to emergency and cost came under the original quote as they couldn’t do the replacement as expected. I am sure they were as frustrated as we were with CoVid, but they handled everything very professionally.
Quality of the work is good and we are very happy with the new roof!

We first used Compass Roofing in 2020 at the start of the first lock-down when we found evidence of a leak in our flat roof. Even though we had not at that time accepted the Compass estimate, Scott and Lewis came and made a temporary repair. Having eventually accepted their estimate, we went with Compass and they started work at the end of lockdown. Unfortunately, on removing the old felt membranes, it was found that the roof underneath was rotten due to water ingress over many years; the result of bad workmanship. Parts of the walls were also affected. Scott was very helpful and arranged a property preservation company to meet with us and agree a way forward to repair the damage. The damaged walls were repaired and a very sick-looking bitumen felt covering replaced with Alwitra single ply membrane. The repair looks great. The Compass staff were very pleasant and helpful when on site. Furthermore, Scott listened to us when we raised any concerns or had any questions. We would have no hesitation in recommending them. Call for an emergency call-out when our roof leaked and flooded the house in recent heavy rain - on Sunday afternoon. They picked up the phone, identified the problem on the call quickly, guys were over in 30 min after the call and repaired the clogged gutter and sorted the problem straight away. Very happy with the fast professional and friendly service, will use again and strongly recommend. 5 stars!

Whole slate roof replaced and some flat roof work. Gave a competitive quote, work started when scheduled, great communication keeping us in the loop, very efficient and completed work rapidly despite severe weather. Cleared up every day, on completion of work would never know they had been, apart from the new roof. Responded and resolved minor snag within hours. Always had an individual's contact number if needed. Perfect, would not hesitate to recommend.

A very quick response and turn around. Had two flat roofs replaced, plus a fix for a leak under a velux window. Everything went smoothly, although it did take a while for the scafolding to come down which wasn't a big problem. A couple of weeks later there was some more leak under the velux window after heavy rain (less than before) and they sent someone who addressed it within on hour. So yes, I am very happy with the service provided and we would use them again in future and recommend them to everyone.
