I have just had a flat roof of a new extension done by Benson Roofing Services (BRS) and am extremely pleased with the workmanship and the professionalism of Wayne who carried out all the work.

Wayne is vastly experienced and knowledgeable in his trade. From start to finish he was polite and honest, With a very reasonable quote he never took a penny until work was completed to our satisfaction. He arrived on time and never stopped working from morning to evening, until the day was finished. Site completely cleared and all rubbish taken away. Can't complain about anything, all work and materials covered by 20 year guarantee for peace of mind.

Wayne is a real gem which is very rare when looking for skilled trade these days. I do not hesitate to recommend him to anyone considering having work done and looking for a reliable roofing expert.

Was looking for somebody to resolve an issue with water ingress from my flat roofed garage. Wayne was great from start to finish. At quote stage he discussed the different options to resolve the issue and (when asked) gave his opinion on what he would do if it was his house/money - he didn’t push for the most expensive option but gave a pragmatic view. When selected to do the work he communicated well, was prompt and cheery and did a great job. He did all the little ‘added extras’ that he didn’t need to like tidying up wires on my roof and replacing a cctv camera that had to come down during the work. Never pushed for payment and stuck to the price he quoted at outset. Happily use again and recommend.

November 2023 -
I commissioned Benson Roofing Service to repair our building communal roof as follows.

-Roof, replace lost roof ridge tiles, slates & re-tension moved slates.
-Chimneys, 2 of required reharled, new flashings & painted.
-Guttering, cleaned & repaired as necessary in places.
-Gable end, required a harling strip down, reharled & repainted. He also made good two long harling cracks at the front & rear of the building. All paintwork was matched to blend in with existing colour.

Wayne was there everyday at 08:30am. He regularly kept me updated regarding the ongoing works & also cleaning up at the end of the day. I found him professional, courteous & it was a pleasure to have someone who understood & could manage the scope of works which made the job successful & stress free for the property owners too.

Yes I would use Wayne again & strongly recommend him as a first contact for future roofing
/ building work.

We engaged BRS to correct some shoddy work carried out by other roofers, namely a dormer refelted and skylight resealed.
Wayne was very good, talking us through what needed to be done and the roof is now watertight where before it was not. They are very busy so we had a bit of a wait until the work could be carried out but when started the job was done quickly and cleanly and Wayne has been back in touch with us to make sure there have been no problems. Roofing work is never going to be cheap but the price was fair and we would not hesitate to contact BRS if we need any other relevant work done.

Wayne was highly recommended by a contractor we had used for large scale works the year before. Wayne gave excellent advice and came back with a detailed and reasonable quote. Can totally see why they recommended him - he is personable, down to earth and very experienced - and most importantly, did an excellent job reroofing the garage. Will definitely be getting in touch with Wayne when our old flat house roof inevitably needs redoing!

Wayne looked at our roof and advised what work needed done to fix multiple leaks, including recommending a stone mason. He carried out roof repairs, including replacing slates, repointing skews and installing chimney cowls.

Wayne always responded quickly to messages and even came back free of charge to double check everything with our roof looked good once the stone masons had their scaffold in place.

Having been a customer of Wayne for over 10 years across multiple properties including a townhouse in the new town with a shared roof, a tenement in the north of the city with a shared roof and a period villa to the west of the city, we would never use or recommend anyone other than BRS. We cannot recommend Wayne highly enough for professionalism, timekeeping and honestly. More than anything is the quality of workmanship and we would trust him with the keys to our house.
As an example, in January this year the roof of our rental property, in a Victorian tenement, was blow off during a storm. Wayne attended the property immediately on request appreciating the urgency of the work required. He provided a competitive quote and undertook the work as an emergency to make the roof watertight. Wayne pulled out all the stops to protect our properties by ensuring the roof was made watertight without delay. He provided daily updates on progress as well as progress photos and information to allow homeowners to submit claims to their insurance companies and to feel confident that the repairs were being addressed as a matter of urgency to the highest standard of repair. A job completed within good time and to a great standard. We have recommended Wayne to friends who also continue to engage his services; I am sure glowing references to follow this.

Having used Mr Benson for many years to both old (period) and new (build) properties. We have experienced EVERYTIME exceptional service and perfection in workmanship. It is a rarity to have a tradesman with both HONESTY and INTEGRITY. And such in depth expert knowledge in both specialist period and modern roofs.

We loved the fact that we were sent photo's at every stage of the job and kept up to date, even with the difficult sourcing of materials in covid times.... which indeed Mr Benson found solutions for.

Mr Benson is passionate about his profession and the preservation of old buildings, and been invaluable for giving us peace of mind. Our Roof has never looked better, but most of all the neighbours have commented on how friendly, efficient and professional Mr Benson and his team are (leaving the place immaculate after scaffolding etc)....... we would NEVER go anywhere else for our roof and can't recommend Mr Benson HIGHLY enough.

Remove slates to both small slate panels, re felt areas. Slate the slightly larger area with welsh slates. Over whole pitch area, with lead dressed ridge roll to firstly act as a water check kerb and also to act as a lead ridge for the adjoining panel. Renew lead ridge crown with new lead allowing for all bossing and welding .

This was a tricky area to repair and after numerous other roofers failing to rectify the problem over the last 10 years, Wayne of Benson Roofing has rectified the problem first time.

He was very prompt and professional in all aspects of the project .

Remedial work to dorma roofs and general roofing maintenance/repairs - the work was assessed and the recommendations clearly justified and quoted as committed. We needed some general maintenance work on our roof - repointing chimneys, hacking out and replacing a slew. Wayne came over and gave us a very reasonable estimate to complete the work, especially compared to the other quote we received. Wayne then arranged to start the work within a week. Our shared roof needed a range of repairs. Slipped slates, leaking gutters, ridge repairs over bay windows and lead flashing repair.
