AIM North Ltd (Access Inspection Maintenance)

We’ve had various work done by Phil and the team, including slate repairs, metalwork, lead seals and gutter cleaning. Every time the work has been done to a really high standard and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
The price is always good (as far as roof repairs can be!) and they are very good at responding quickly, quoting and getting the work done. They’re always willing to explain and show the finished work, and I’m grateful to have found a roofer I trust.

We instructed Phil to have a look at our roof (detached bungalow in Blackhall). He came back to us straight away and turned up timely when advised. A detailed quote was provided reflecting exactly the work required. He didn't try to complicate matters and charge for superfluous work. We had bad experiece before when another roofing company advising us that the roof was beyond repair and needed full replacement when clearly this is not the case. Even after a bad storn which had caused a lot of damage to roofs in Edinburgh, Phil gave us a slot and carried out the work promptly providing pictures of the repair.

Phil and his team carried out slate roof and chimney/ stonework repairs along with painting of the downpipes and gutter on our tenement building. Communication with Phil was quick and easy from the initial quote request, arranging a visit within a couple of days and providing photos with key detailed information of the work required. This was especially helpful to share with all owners in the building.
They were able to fit the job into the busy schedule ensuring the building was watertight ahead of the winter months. The team completing the work were very efficient and professional keeping me updated throughout. All of the work was carried out to a very high standard. We had A.I.M. out to clear our guttering in our city centre tenement. Communication was great, really straightforward and responsive. They arrived when they said they would, and were very respectful of the house and pleasant to deal with. I will absolutely use them again, and would recommend them happily.

I discovered areas of damp within my house, linked to the roof. After contacting Phil having found his details online, he (incredibly promptly!) came to have a look and assess the work that may need doing. From the moment he arrived, it was obvious he was incredibly experienced and he made a full assessment of the likely scope of works including removing courses of the roof tiles, replacing a perished membrane and solving an issue of water ingress around the window 'shoulders'. The quote AIM provided - which was incredibly reasonable and amazing value for money - arrived quickly and provided a full breakdown of the work they proposed undertaking and a solution to the water ingress around the windows. Despite the fact they were clearly busy (there were a number of days of storms and high winds which will no doubt have set them back with their volume of work), Phil and Trevor arrived to carry out the work within the timescale they had quoted, and they were able to do it without the need for scaffolding which also represented a huge saving on the work. They were prompt, efficient, incredibly tidy and organised, and a delight to have working on the property. I was kept informed about the job throughout and I am incredibly pleased with the standard of work undertaken. Now my neighbours are asking for AIM's details as I have one of the best looking rooves in the street! It's rare you find such quality tradesmen and I can highly recommend AIM.

AIM North Ltd are the best roofers I’ve used in over 40 years. As well as communicating well and doing a good job when they said they would, they did additional last minute work repairing a patch of damaged rendering and removing several bags of rubble and tangled wires - at no extra cost. Highly recommended.

Phil helped us fix a cast iron down pipe which was split and leaking. Without needing scaffolding they repaired the down pipe with a fibre bandage system via rope access. They checked the down pipe internals with a camera. Prompt, friendly, very happy and will use again.

Phil did an overhaul of our tenement roof. He was thorough and professional and did some extra pointing without charging us. We have used Phil"s services a number of times and will continue to do so. Thoroughly recommended

Phil and Chris worked around the weather and sympathetically with our over 200 year old building and its quirks.

Lead work and re-slating were the main work, but window frames were sanded, filled and painted as well.

In short, great service, very professional, helpful and reliable.
Phil was recommended by a friend and his team have done two jobs for us to date.
The first was a tricky job involved lifting shiplap boards to reinstate lead flashing (incorrectly removed by a previous roofer). Very tidy result.
The second was to restore a bedded verge on our roof, which solved a problematic leak.

Phil's company is exceptional! I asked him to quote for some roof, guttering and masonry work. He came to look at the job promptly, did a thorough investigation and explained clearly what needed to be done, showing great patience with my numerous basic questions. As the work was a shared repairs job, it took a while to source the funds. Phil was very understanding and scheduled the work to allow me to get the funds in place. Phil and team did a good job of window fascias at height, and also (I noticed) gave the gutter a clean while they were there (a wee freebie?). They re-arranged their schedule to fit around the window fitters.

Phil was really easy to communicate with, comes across as trustworthy, straight talking, can-do. I'd had quotes from other firms, who didn't have the quality of customer interaction (it seems like quite a 'macho' job, but there's no 'macho attitude' or patronising chat from Phil, which is appreciated).

The job was fairly priced and materials receipts were provided (so costs were transparent). Be careful who you go with in Edinburgh - one of the quotes was almost twice as dear as A.I.M North Ltd.

The service was really professional and carried out to very high standards. It also constituted really good value for money. On top of everything else, everybody was incredibly nice!

Phil and a colleague repaired cracks in several of our chimney skews, cleaned the gutters, and replaced slates. (It's one of these complicated Edinburgh tenement roofs.) Obviously time will tell how well it was done, but two weeks later there are no leaks despite heavy rain, so it looks good.
Excellent customer service all the way through: Phil came for an estimate, listened (which is remarkably unusual for tradesmen) to what we needed, gave a reasonable estimate in good time, showed up when he said he would, actually seemed to enjoy the work, and answered some questions even after we had paid up. Sent some photos with the both the estimate and the invoice, which was also appreciated.
