We love our open fire but it's an old house and a piece of masonry had come down the chimney. We weren't sure how this could be repaired so we could continue enjoying our fire. D&L asked for some details and photos and then told us they would fit a chimney liner, which they did and the result is better than we could have hoped - the draught is improved, so the fire burns hotter and we'll save on fuel, and no more worries about crumbling masonry. They were quick and efficient and left no mess. We would definitely recommend them.

We had a cast iron open fireplace removed and replaced with a Log Burning stove.

Work was done to a high standard and the tradespeople were friendly and easy to deal with.

Very happy with the overall service provided, and the price charged was competitive.

D & L Stoves and Fireplaces fitted a new wood burner for me, to the exact spec that I gave them, and I'm delighted with the work. Their quote was more than reasonable, and the work was undertaken within an agreed and reasonable timeframe. Liam and the team were absolutely amazing right from providing the quote quickly, to installing the stove 2 weeks later. They were friendly and professional throughout and were extremely tidy when carrying out the work. We love our stove and would definitely recommend D & L Stoves.

In summary, I am very happy with what D&L installed, but am very angry with what they did NOT install. I was quoted for installation of a wood burning stove with lights in the "chamber". I tried to clarify / input into how and where the lights would be installed 3 weeks in advance of the actual install, but was told I would have to discuss this with the electrician on the day - once the old fireplace had been removed. On the day I asked how they planned to install the lights, and the associated switch, only to be told (in no uncertain terms) that it would be impossible to install lights in the chamber (because of the heat). I decided to proceed with the install (as I had been told it was impossible) but a quick Google identified oven lights that work up to 300 degrees C, so it IS possible, but it needed time to investigate before the installation.

It is now too late / too expensive to retro-fit lights into the chamber, which has left me feeling VERY frustrated. I have a lovely light red brick surround in the chamber, but it simply took dark to see them. As a compromise, I have purchased 2 rechargeable lights that show what it would have looked like, but they cannot be in place when the fire is on, otherwise they would melt.

Delighted with my new stove (multi fuel). Received a visit for an estimate within a few days of first making contact and the stove installed within less than two weeks. I went with the suggested hearth and fire - it all looks great.

In half a day the boys fitted our multi fuel stove which looks amazing!! They also helped lift heavy stuff into my van for me something they didn’t have to do but genuinely wanted to help which you don’t see much of these days. At the end once fitted the boys let me see the smoke coming out of the chimney which was great to see! Can’t wait to have a roaring fire going in our wee cottage! Thank you so much :)!!

We had 2 stoves fitted in our house. David and Liam were very helpful and knowledgeable, providing advice on the options available to us prior to our committing to the work. Both stoves were fitted swiftly and to a very high standard of finish, working around existing period features we were keen to retain.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them again.

We were so pleased with the work D&L stoves did for us. Super friendly and informative when it turned out the job wasn't going to be as straight forward as hoped. They did a brilliant job and the fire looks fantastic. Highly recommend!

Installation of new stove with back boiler:

Putting aside the constantly rising estimate, or changing installation date - still a terrible experience. A couple of days before the installation date we were asked to get in touch with the contracted plumber ourselves as the stove company couldn't get hold of them; we did, but the plumber failed to turn up as arranged; arriving a day late to look at the job. The stove itself was installed as planned and looks great, but the plumber failed to turn up for several days, during which time we were being chased with the invoice by the company. The plumber eventually returned, connected the stove but couldn't get the heating to work, announced they 'didn't understand the system' and left, never to be seen again. When let the company know the job was unfinished we were told that they 'had a bad feeling about the plumber from the start'. We got an emergency plumber out ourselves, mainly to check there was nothing dangerous about how the work had been left. Unfortunately the heating has not been working properly since the job started. We thought that someone would inspect the work (given the plumber's final remarks) but on the contrary it was argued that the contracted work was completed and we'd have to get a local plumber ourselves (now at our own additional expense). In my opinion if a system is drained then it should be tested after being refilled to ensure all is working. All the company seemed interested in was getting the money, they wouldn't come to inspect the work like I requested. Heartbroken that, after £8000+ we're still without a fully functional heating system. THEN several months later upon reading my review on My builder, offered £200 compensation, but this seemed to be dependent on me taking down the review as when I refused the compensation was not given.
