Complete bathroom renovation.
We find Alan and David very friendly, extremely professional, meticulous in their attention to detail and keep you well informed throughout the project.
They have also done roofing and joinery work for us in the past - all to the same high standard.

Removing all leaves and debris from gutters, brush moss off small roof at front of house, repair down pipe at side of house, remove old seats and metal tresils at side of house and seal concrete round windows with acrylic sealant.
They also noticed and made repairs to the gutter by supplying and fitting 2 stop ends and a new bit of gutter, screwed a plastic verge cap on the small roof to hold in place and stop the wind blowing it off.

Very nice people who got on with the work without any fuss.

Repair of guttering at high level and repointing of wall.

The repair of the guttering in two places required the building then dismantling and rebuilding of a tall scaffold. This was very efficiently done. The second location required the purchase of additional materials which did not affect the overall progress of the work. Good quality new cast iron guttering was provided.
A very good clean repointing job was also done.
Alan kept us up to date with the planning and progress of the work.
Overall we are very happy with the work done.

W H Kay repaired and replaced iron rones on our 2-storey house - scaffolding was required.

This trader arrived at the time arranged and completed the work to a high standard, as per our agreement and estimate. The site was tidied at the end of each day and the work was carried out quietly and efficiently, At all times we were kept informed of progress.

We have used this trader before and will not hesitate to use them again.

I contacted W H Kay when we experienced water ingress to a first floor dormer window in our 1940s semi detached. David responded quickly and unlike others, checked the roof immediately instead of doing it from the ground. He removed a couple of tiles and discovered the problem, returned to ground level for some supplies and fixed the issue there and then. I then asked him to check some guttering and he completed a really good temporary fix ahead of returning after Xmas to replace two lengths of guttering. I’d asked him to also check a corner joint and rather than charge for another length, he used the removed damaged section to manufacture a replacement corner joint on site. Excellent communication and immediately generated a sense of trust. He’s going into the contact book as my first call in the event of any future repair work on the house!

Garage roof needed replaced after 35 years. David advised on best type to get and sent us a quote which we accepted. Aim was a non-maintenance roof to avoid future painting. David and Alan carried out this task over several days in December 2019. All existing roof, timber facia and gutters were removed and a couple of new roof beams installed to replace rotten ones. Three layers of felt were laid on new roof deck as well as uPVC fascia around roof and new guttering. New garage door was also ordered to complete project. Delighted with finished job. David and Alan arrived when they said they would and cracked on with the work. Would certainly recommend.

W.H. Kay installed a bifold door and two patio doors at our property in September 2019. The work was structural and was carried out in accordance with plans from both the architect and structural engineer. From my experience with W.H. Kay on this job I cannot recommend them highly enough. I first spoke to Alan 4 months before work began. He came round, asessed the job, answered all my questions and then emailed me a quote. He gave me a date on which work would commence (which turned out 4 months later to be the very day upon which he arrived to start work). In that 4 month period we must have exchanged around 20 emails - Alan was always quick to respond with answers to queries/slight changes to plans etc. - most times I would receive a response on the same day. Alan and his brother arrived on the Monday morning to start work and were there for a week - all day, every day. As the job went on they would give me options as to how I wanted things done rather than just pick the one that was easiest - I wanted the threshold of the doors to be close to floor level rather than a step up which meant cutting into the concrete cill at the bottom of the house. They just said no problem, fired up the stihl saw and got on with it. The end product is stunning, solid as a rock - just a great job all round. Both Alan and David are friendly, approachable, hard working and best of all they seem to really care about the job they are doing. I've had experiences (like most people) with builders in the past ranging from ok to down right crooks - W.H. Kay are by far the best builders I've ever had the pleasure to deal with. If you need work done and are lucky enough that they have space in their schedule - hire these guys!

My cupola was leaking and I needed a company with lead experience. David Kay turned up as arranged and completed the repairs quickly. They cleaned out and checked the general roof area then sent photos showing the before and after state of the roof. A job well done. Thanks.

Repair of old doors and porch woodwork. I was pleased that the joiner agreed to undertake this because it is time consuming and fiddly to get right and looking good. It was also done sooner than I expected. Everything was done tidily and tidy at end.
