The job scope was to complete the Second Fix, on a major renovation on a 1 bed room flat in central Edinburgh, and carryout some corrective repairs to newly installed lighting and power circuits. Simple Enough? As the original electrician was no longer Available/ Contactable! Then be able to issue an Electrical Completion Certificate.

I put out three quotes for the work through "Trusted Trader", based on location and positive feed back reviews. Steven Craig Electrical Services, (SCES) being one of them. Steven contacted me and requested more details of the work, and then requested a site visit, which was arranged.

We walked through the jobs, and workscopes, where Steven made some suggestions and recommendations for work, materials, checked parts available remaining etc. He stated he would provide a quote the next day, which he did. He also stated if the faults were more difficult and time consuming there may be a slight increase in the costs. Which I accepted, since we were heading into the unknown!

The other contractors, were also responding, but delays in booking a site inspection visit due to work load etc made this unviable.

I contact Steven regarding his availability, and time frame for completion which he responded favourably to my needs, and requirements. Steven started work promptly, and we progressed area by area and we were confronted by a litany of faults, mistakes, and errors in the work previously done in the electrical installation by a somewhat dyslexic electrician.

Steven, by his experience, technical knowledge and skills swiftly managed to correct these issues and kept the project on track. Keeping me informed of requirements and materials. Which meant I was able to source materials, check installation photographs, and endoscope ceiling cavities looking for junction boxes in a timely manner.

I am happy to relate, the work was completed to my complete satisfaction, in time and with budget. Which I find amazing, given the cluster fudge, which we initially discovered in checking any/all power /lighting circuits.

I know this feed back is somewhat lengthy, But I want you to know there are still Good, Competent, Professional and Honest trades people out there, and when you find one, sing his (or hers) praises......

I had electrical fault at my house located in Mid-Lothian in July 2024. The fault symptom is that the RCB trips occasionally such that all the power points were down.

By early August, I decided to search for an electrician from the Trusted Trader web page to help resolve the issue. On Friday afternoon, I sent two request-inquiries to two electrical companies rated 5-star grade of service level.

Steven Craig Electrical Services (SCES), one of the two companies to whom I sent requests gave swift response to me, saying an electrician would be made available from the busy work schedule and helped look at issue and provide resolution by next Tuesday or Wednesday.

SCES electrician arrived at my house on an agreed time and provided a thoroughly IR check on the MCB terminations and the associated wiring path with a 500V megger.

Within an hour's time, SCES electrician successfully identified the wiring section with low insultation fault that caused the RCB to trip. Upon my agreement, the problematic wiring section was isolated and, all the power points were normalized thereafter.

The power supply situation at my house looks stable since the repair work done. Power tripping issue was apparently resolved.

I would thank SESC very much for the professional and efficient service rendered to me.

Called them out to have a look at a shoddily installed light on our building and they provided lots of advice on what would be needed to fix. Once we had an appropriate light fitting they were quite prompt in getting the lights swapped over and the light has worked well since.

Extremely prompt reply with regard to replacement of our shower box and ongoing electrical issues.
Steven arrived exactly at time specified and we are very happy with the work and cost of the job.

The two ceiling lights in our kitchen had been out of commission for months. Using table lamps to cook by was interesting but not ideal. Previously, we had no luck obtaining the services of a Registered Electrician having sent requests over the months to a good few. We wondered if it was too piddly a job to bother with. However this time, thankfully, luck was on our side and the Electrical gods smiled on us Steven replied, came the very next day, diagnosed and fixed the problem in under an hour. We are very grateful Steven took the time to reply to what, for him presumably, was a small job. To us it has made a big difference. We are having the kitchen refitted next year and Steven's number is top of our list. Actually the only one on the list. A pleasant man, a knowledgeable and professional service, costed fairly and, above all, safely.

Stevie was very helpful and definitely went the extra mile. He was able to suggest options to help us decide what we wanted done. For example, type of light fitting.

I would recommend Steven unreservedly to anyone looking for an electrician to work on their property.

The work I asked for (including installation of mains linked smoke alarm system) was completed to a very high standard, it all looks very neat and tidy. I am very happy with it.

Steven was really professional, communication was very clear, always timely, and he kept me updated with timings of when the work would happen and any changes from the plan. He was able to fit it in as an extra job at the last minute, which was extremely gracious.

in summary - I will not hesitate to call Steven next time I need an electrician!

Small wiring job, all work was excellent

We have been lucky to have used Steve several times for garden lighting, fire sensor emergency (he came at 07.15) internal light, socket work and when a part of our old fuse box was broken he had a new one in his van. He is calm and knowledgeable and I have no hesitation in recommending him.

I have used Steven for a number of years now. He is very reliable and tidy and fairly priced. His work is always carried out to the highest standard and nothing seems to be a problem. I would highly recommend him!
