I recommend Stewart very highly. He took our horrible, broken-down outhouses, waved his magic wand and turned them into a beautiful summer house, with a perfectly-tiled roof, shining white walls and French windows. He also fixed the gutters on our cottage, far better than I have ever managed to do. Stuart is a hard worker, fine craftsman, master builder, great company and man of integrity - and if you ask him nicely, he may bring his very smart and friendly dog along.

Our roof developed a leak, dripping rainwater onto a bedroom ceiling. Urgent action needed to stop damage developing into expensive repairs. Contacted Stuart on a Saturday and he promised to arrive later same day to perform an initial assessment. He arrived, took a look and promised to return following day to perform further investigation. This he did, detected the problem and carried out the work. A simple repair in the end, needing a new roof tile to replace a broken one not visible from ground level.

I was impressed with Stuart’s friendly, professional attitude and approach. At all times I felt I was in good hands. When Stuart promised to attend he kept his promise and communicated well. His charge for the work was fair. I would use Stuart’s services again without hesitation.

Repairs to slate roof, chimney capping repair and repair to rainwater guttering. All work requested has been completed within the originally estimated time and with only a minor cost overrun due to extra materials being needed. The job was done promptly, efficiently, with friendly enthusiasm. All areas of the work were cleaned up after completion. Very satisfied with the work and the way it was done, thank you. We had missing hip tiles replaced and Stewart also went to great lengths to source and replace wrong sized hip tiles which had been put in place previously. Also had chimney stacks covered with caps and spikes placed on chimney to prevent problematic seagulls from nesting.
Stewart was very efficient and timely with his quote and starting the work. Keeping myself informed of all the works being carried out. Would definitely recommend Stewart to others.

Emergency clear out of moss along edge of roof. Stuart came out on a Sunday morning to do the work. On time and did a swift job. Advice on future prevention of moss build up.

Stuart carried out all our external work including removal of old rhones and fit new rhones front and rear plus new straps at the rear; paint all new rhones and downpipe; chimney cap; fill in around windows front and rear; repair and patch harling; patch front plinth with apoxy mortar.

He came promptly and gave a very competitive quote for the repair of botched repairs someone else had done. He cleared the old stuff away, replaced the rhones with cast iron and fixed broken roof tiles.

He worked In an orderly and diligent manner, coming when he said he would and was very happy to tell me what he was doing by way of the work.

If I ever need any more work on my house done, which no doubt I will, I will certainly contact Mr Allison as my first port of call for help with all building / outside work.

Remove gutter, clean, straighten brackets and replace.  Repair connection to down pipe.  Check and clean all gutters using hose.  Gutters at 3rd floor level: Very helpful - responded quickly to request and discussed options and costs.  Carried out work quickly and professionally.  Offered to check all other gutters and clean these without being asked.  Cleaned up after completion.  This is the second time I have used Mr Allison - would recommend highly.

Investigate and repair leak in and around skylight window on roof.  Remove and renew skews on front and back of roof: Stuart completed an excellent roof repair. He was always prompt and kept us fully informed on the progress of the work.  He cut no corners on the job making sure that the repair was done correctly.  I am confident that his repair will be long lasting.  I have no hesitation in recommending Stuart to anyone who requires roofing work done.

Re-slating after rot found under old slates following leak: Excellent work, have already recommended.

Fitted lead covers on the copes of my house.  Supplied and fitted new rhones.  Replaced missing and broken slates: Over many years Stuart Allison has completed many repairs to my house including re-roofing most of it.  His work is always of the highest quality - he is never content with just a temporary patch job, but always prefers a long lasting permanent repair.  Whenever I have a problem he comes straightaway, even at weekends.

Slates replaced, chimneys re-pointed, valley gutters replaced: Excellent work.  Delighted and would highly recommend.

Mr Allison has done several jobs for us since we bought this property in 2008.  1. Reslating large sections of roof, replacing flashing and dealing with a major leak before we moved in.  2. Regular checks on roof and replacing slates where necessary.  3. Excavating floor of utilities room and installing correct subfloor timbers.  4. Building a stone retaining wall with steps in garden to replace wooden one which had rotted.  5. Replacing rear porch covering and installing water butts: Mr Allison earned our trust as he carried out 1. (above) before we moved into the house so was not supervised.  His work has always been of high quality and he has carried out the work expeditiously.
