Business Information
First established in 1988, we are a local, family owned and ran company. We carry out landscaping projects both large and small for residential clients throughout the Lothians. We undertake a variety of gardens from initial design through the whole installation process to completion. We are TREX COMPOSITE DECKING PRO INSTALLERS - see Trex.com - and fit and supply both both timber and TREX composite decks, driveways, patios, walls, turfing and artificial grass installation, fencing, gravel and all forms of soft planting.
We also maintain and manage residential and private estates. We own machinery ranging from pedestrian to ride-on mowers with collection, out front ride-on mowers and tractors with mounted mowers. We currently own a Kubota F3680 61" out front mower, a John Deere 1545 62" out front mower, a Kubota F3090 60" with flail mower, a Kubota G21 48" and a Kubota G23 48" mid mounted mowers with collection and a Kubota L4240 tractor with 12' Trimax mower attached. All mowers are operated by trained staff giving the best, professional finish.
Our eldest son Lewis joined the company in 2016 and has excelled. His younger brother Ben joined in 2019 and they will form the future of the company. Initially called Philip Mitchell Landscaping, to reflect the input and the future ownership, in 2020 we decided to change the company name. Therefore as of February 2020 the trading name of the company was changed to Mitchell Landscaping and Ground Care Limited.

We have maintained the grounds of Gosford House for 30 years. We use several different machines for the different lawns throughout the estate.
Client wanted to changed a large 150 square metre patio to a more modern composite decked terrace. With additional planters, artificial grassed utility area and gravel grids.

Removal of lots of large bushes, hedge,old tree stumps and replaced by new fence. Additionally area freed up from bushes prepared and turfed to extend existing lawn.
Two planters also built and installed and existing old planter removed.
The work was done very efficiently - all within one week and all cleared up at the end. Would happily recommend to others.

Philip turned up when he said he would to survey the job, had the quote to us within days and kept us informed of the start date and arrived promptly on the agreed date.
We are delighted with the quality of his work and advice which helped us resolve some of the design challenges.
Philip handled negotiations with neighbours with diplomacy and professionalism. And the bill reflected the simplified work carried out based on Philip’s suggestions.

Quality work from nice people ... the fact that Phil and his boys are very busy and there might be a wee bit of a wait says it all really.

From the beginning Phil was punctual and provided good advice and feedback on our plans.
Once work started Phil incorporated a modification request from myself with no trouble.
The end result being a fine looking driveway and low maintenance, great looking back garden, both finished to a high standard.
I can't recommend Phil enough and will definitely be seeking Phil's services for more work we have planned.

I had new fencing and a redesign of the rear garden done. The garden now boasts a pergola, a mixture of raised and regular flower beds, artificial grass, which has been edged with cobbled stones and new paving. Phil and his boys were reliable, professional and hardworking. They were friendly and remained good humoured despite working in some pretty awful weather conditions.

We've had Phil do work for us before and not only is his work and manner highly professional, his previous work has endured for years and still looks great. On this occasion we had him do a complete makeover of a sizeable rear and side garden for elderly inlaws which involved laying a lot of turf, building some fences, some decking, slabbing, raised beds and laying a lot of chips. Basically Phil completely transformed a massive area from a moss and weed ridden mess to a proper garden of incredibly high standard in about a week - even dealing admirably and diplomatically with some of the problems caused by 'lesser jobs' done for us by other tradesmen we'd had in. Cant praise Phils work highly enough - we already have plans to get him in to do some more work in future.

I had a clear idea of what I wanted to achieve with our front garden, and had drawn a scale plan - but I had no idea whether it was practical. At all stages, Phil listened to my ideas, offered constructive and practical suggestions and ultimately through his skill and hard work, turned my plan into a reality. I really appreciated Phil's time in discussing materials, options and solutions to some of the unforeseen issues that cropped up, and felt that he was focussed on giving us the garden we wanted - at no time did I feel as though anything was too much trouble. Communication was excellent at all times - from the first site visit to the end of the project, and he was totally reliable. Overall the quality of the hard landscaping is very good and the price was fair and competitive with other companies who quoted for the work.
