Business Information
First established in 1988, we are a local, family owned and ran company. We carry out landscaping projects both large and small for residential clients throughout the Lothians. We undertake a variety of gardens from initial design through the whole installation process to completion. We are TREX COMPOSITE DECKING PRO INSTALLERS - see Trex.com - and fit and supply both both timber and TREX composite decks, driveways, patios, walls, turfing and artificial grass installation, fencing, gravel and all forms of soft planting.
We also maintain and manage residential and private estates. We own machinery ranging from pedestrian to ride-on mowers with collection, out front ride-on mowers and tractors with mounted mowers. We currently own a Kubota F3680 61" out front mower, a John Deere 1545 62" out front mower, a Kubota F3090 60" with flail mower, a Kubota G21 48" and a Kubota G23 48" mid mounted mowers with collection and a Kubota L4240 tractor with 12' Trimax mower attached. All mowers are operated by trained staff giving the best, professional finish.
Our eldest son Lewis joined the company in 2016 and has excelled. His younger brother Ben joined in 2019 and they will form the future of the company. Initially called Philip Mitchell Landscaping, to reflect the input and the future ownership, in 2020 we decided to change the company name. Therefore as of February 2020 the trading name of the company was changed to Mitchell Landscaping and Ground Care Limited.

We have maintained the grounds of Gosford House for 30 years. We use several different machines for the different lawns throughout the estate.
Client wanted to changed a large 150 square metre patio to a more modern composite decked terrace. With additional planters, artificial grassed utility area and gravel grids.

Maintenance to a high standard of the extensive grounds of a Grade A listed mansion house. The work carried out was mainly grass cutting of large areas of lawn but included weed control, trimming of shrubbery and pruning of roses as well as some light building work.
We found the company very reliable, helpful and pleasant to deal with. They are quick to respond to queries and show a flexible approach when needed.

Phil and Lewis transformed an ugly duckling wall into a thing of beauty, which has also transformed our garden. We were consulted, offered ideas and choices on what might work best and given excellent recommendations and advice, both on the material and installation.
We were stunned at the end result, and also at the speed of the work. Our garden was spic and span on completion, and an extra request was accommodated. The final invoice was less than the quote..........what more can we say! Highly recommend and we hope they'll be back to ours soon for further works.

Landscaping of rear garden.
This is the second time we have used Phil’s company, the first being the removal and erection of a fence for the rear garden.
We are over the moon with the work carried out by Phil and Lewis.
The first area improved was a play area for our grand children, new decking laid and raised bed to keep play bark in place.
Secondly, a substantial paved and decked patio area was installed the length of the house with paved steps leading down to a corner area still to be developed.
All the work was done to a very high standard from clearing away all old slabbing and plants etc to preparing the new areas and the planting of new shrubs etc.
We would highly recommend this company.

Mitchell Landscaping & Ground Care provide contract services for the Glassel Park Estate, Longniddry. They have done so for over 20 years providing an excellent standard of service. Maintenance provided includes the fine cut mowing of extensive grassed areas, the construction and maintenance of estate paths, the maintenance of rough cut 'environmental' areas, shrubberies throughout the estate and various other general works as required.

Taking down of an existing fence, supply and erection of a new one.
Having had good reports of his work from neighbours we asked Phil to quote for the renewal of a section of our garden fencing. He assessed the job the next day, provided an acceptable quotation the following day and fitted us into his future work schedule.
The work started as planned with a Q & A session to ensure we were happy with the scope and completed efficiently and timeously. The worksite was cleared of old fencing and left in a clean and tidy condition. Altogether, a job very well done by a diligent, polite and professional team.
Unsurprisingly, based on this performance we would be happy to use MLGC again and recommend them to others.

Phil constructed a raised decking platform for our sun house and added adjacent raised beds with sourced garden plants. Once again Phil has exceeded our expectations with his expertise and attention to detail. The corner plot is transformed. His prices are reasonable and he is charming to deal with. All this was achieved in quite hard February weather conditions and the trader took it upon himself to hose down our rather muddy patio upon completion of the works.
We were impressed by this trader as soon as we met him. He is clearly well experienced in his business and able to advise knowledgeably. He proved adaptable to varying the work slightly to accommodate our revised instructions and highly competent in carrying out the work whilst keeping us informed throughout in a friendly and unfailingly courteous manner.

Had an old fence removed and new one installed, which included replacing and cutting some large concrete flags. Philip arrived at the time that he specified to give his estimate, and we were kept fully informed throughout the process. Again, he arrived as specified to carry out the works, all of which were carried out in a professional manner. After completion, all of the debris was taken away and the site left tidy. Great job completed, and I would not hesitate to recommend Philip and his company to anyone.

The fence at the rear of my property was rotten. It was fronted by Leylandii which were there when we moved in 34 years. Phil arranged for a a firm of tree surgeons to remove the trees and then he and his team removed and erected a new 2m high fence. Everything went smoothly, the site left tidy and the cost was less than expected. Well happy.
