Business Information
First established in 1988, we are a local, family owned and ran company. We carry out landscaping projects both large and small for residential clients throughout the Lothians. We undertake a variety of gardens from initial design through the whole installation process to completion. We are TREX COMPOSITE DECKING PRO INSTALLERS - see Trex.com - and fit and supply both both timber and TREX composite decks, driveways, patios, walls, turfing and artificial grass installation, fencing, gravel and all forms of soft planting.
We also maintain and manage residential and private estates. We own machinery ranging from pedestrian to ride-on mowers with collection, out front ride-on mowers and tractors with mounted mowers. We currently own a Kubota F3680 61" out front mower, a John Deere 1545 62" out front mower, a Kubota F3090 60" with flail mower, a Kubota G21 48" and a Kubota G23 48" mid mounted mowers with collection and a Kubota L4240 tractor with 12' Trimax mower attached. All mowers are operated by trained staff giving the best, professional finish.
Our eldest son Lewis joined the company in 2016 and has excelled. His younger brother Ben joined in 2019 and they will form the future of the company. Initially called Philip Mitchell Landscaping, to reflect the input and the future ownership, in 2020 we decided to change the company name. Therefore as of February 2020 the trading name of the company was changed to Mitchell Landscaping and Ground Care Limited.

We have maintained the grounds of Gosford House for 30 years. We use several different machines for the different lawns throughout the estate.
Client wanted to changed a large 150 square metre patio to a more modern composite decked terrace. With additional planters, artificial grassed utility area and gravel grids.

Competitive quote received.
On day of installation the team arrived to deal with delivery of new material.
Team worked well together to remove old deck and install new decking. All old materials removed.

My garden was transformed by having large bushes and shrubs removed, membrane and pebbles in place and planters built.
Old slabs and walls taken away and a paved patio area created. Extensive work to front and back garden with minimal disruption. I am delighted with the results.

Following a first class experience of Phil and his team last year, when they erected new fencing in our garden, they recently returned to do some landscaping and planting at the fences.
In particular, we had a very problematic slope at the bottom of the front garden, which was difficult to maintain and was overgrown with weeds. We asked Phil for some ideas and recommendations to deal with the slope.
From a very basic discussion, Phil has landscaped and transformed the area. We are absolutely delighted with the result and have had lots of complements from everyone who has seen it.
Once again, all of the work has been completed to the highest standard, the team have gone the extra mile and are a real pleasure to deal with.
We would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Phil was the only quote I obtained, having looked up the East Lothian trusted trader website and seen the excellent reviews. Arranging a quote was straight-forward. Phil was very professional, knowledgeable and responsive, and when the quote came after a day or two I was very happy to accept.
I had to wait a couple of months for the install date which was a good sign as rated traders are always in demand and booked up, but when it arrived, the guys were very punctual, had all the tools, worked hard, were tidy and considerate of my property, and you could see the care and level of attention they paid to doing the job, from digging out the old concrete and using string to ensure the new fence posts were lined-up properly. Phil and his team were courteous, friendly and consummate professionals.
I'd happily use them again and recommend them.

Phil's team removed our old patio and other slabs in the back garden and also removed numerous large overgrown bushes. A new, larger, patio was then laid and replanting in approximately 2/3rds of the garden is to be done. They are extremely professional and pleasant to deal with. I hired Phil to landscape my very scruffy gravel/paved/weed-infested driveway! They clear what was there, excavated and created a beautiful driveway with gravel using a gravel stabilising system, installed drain covers, edging etc! Phil and his son did a fantastic job - 100% satisfied customer! They arrived when they said they would, kept me updated all the way through and even the snow and rain didn't delay things too much! They also trimmed my hedge and cleared the cuttings away, which was a very last minute request from me! Highly skilled at what they do, explained things to me in layman's terms, extremely tidy workers, thoughtful and friendly too! I cannot fault their work or their work ethic. Highly recommend - 5*!

Mitchell Landscaping have created a lovely, bright paved patio area in our back garden. We are delighted with the results. The team were friendly, courteous, punctual, hard working and efficient. They cleared the old paving as they went and were clean tidy workers. They transformed the area in less than 1.5 days. PS my photo isn’t the best but when replanted around the patio, this will be a lovely sunny spot to relax and enjoy our garden in.
