Business Information
First established in 1988, we are a local, family owned and ran company. We carry out landscaping projects both large and small for residential clients throughout the Lothians. We undertake a variety of gardens from initial design through the whole installation process to completion. We are TREX COMPOSITE DECKING PRO INSTALLERS - see Trex.com - and fit and supply both both timber and TREX composite decks, driveways, patios, walls, turfing and artificial grass installation, fencing, gravel and all forms of soft planting.
We also maintain and manage residential and private estates. We own machinery ranging from pedestrian to ride-on mowers with collection, out front ride-on mowers and tractors with mounted mowers. We currently own a Kubota F3680 61" out front mower, a John Deere 1545 62" out front mower, a Kubota F3090 60" with flail mower, a Kubota G21 48" and a Kubota G23 48" mid mounted mowers with collection and a Kubota L4240 tractor with 12' Trimax mower attached. All mowers are operated by trained staff giving the best, professional finish.
Our eldest son Lewis joined the company in 2016 and has excelled. His younger brother Ben joined in 2019 and they will form the future of the company. Initially called Philip Mitchell Landscaping, to reflect the input and the future ownership, in 2020 we decided to change the company name. Therefore as of February 2020 the trading name of the company was changed to Mitchell Landscaping and Ground Care Limited.

We have maintained the grounds of Gosford House for 30 years. We use several different machines for the different lawns throughout the estate.
Client wanted to changed a large 150 square metre patio to a more modern composite decked terrace. With additional planters, artificial grassed utility area and gravel grids.

My wife and I were so pleased with this family run business from start to finish. All three contractors, father & both sons were very punctual, friendly & polite, very hard working while delivering an extremely high quality new fence which we are absolutely thrilled with. Reinforced the fence after it was unsafe after the high winds.
Phil and his team once again did a first class job. They fitted posts to ensure the fence was steady.

My front and side garden was cleared of old chippings and slabs, a weed membrane was laid then new gravel placed on top, all retained by a new timber edging.
I was delighted with the work Lewis and Ben carried out. They were polite, very hard working and completed the job in one and a half days.

Had doorstep and path remade and decorative stones laid in the front garden. Phil gave a quote I was more than happy with and supplied all materials required. Arrived when he said he would and kept in regular contact. Great local company, would definitely recommend.

I had a 10 foot by 8 foot patio laid
The job was started and completed in 1 day .
Care was taken to protect the area and a tarpaulin was laid where the cement mixer and materials were laid .
The whole area was left clean and tidy after completion
Would recommend.

Garden fence replaced. Old fence removed and new one put up. Phil and his sons did a fantastic job. They worked hard and were polite and friendly at all times. We are delighted with the new fence. They tidied up after and left the garden looking much better than before! We would highly recommend them and would definitely use them again.

We had our decking replaced by a composite product called TREX.
We are delighted with the smart new decking and stylish banisters. Phil Mitchell and sons worked studiously in a chilly week in November to install the new decking. They are hard working, professional, highly reliable and excellent to work with.

Replaced turf. Removed existing badly laid poor quality grass, stone picked applied new top soil and fertiliser then laid new lawn.

Phil and team built a new fence, back gate and trex decking, as well as generally sprucing up the garden.
Throughout the project Phil and co were extremely professional, kept me updated and really efficient. The work is really high standard and we’ve had compliments on it already as well as neighbours and friends asking for details of who done the work for their own jobs.

We approached Mitchell Landscaping to do considerable composite decking in our East Lothian garden. From initial contact to finalising work this Father and sons company were professional and good to have around. Our original decking plan evolved on site and is, very attractively, on 4 levels. The composite decking quality is outstanding, I have a couple of irks with how some of the filling in is done, a few small pieces run against grain, but Phil tells me that’s the product rather than his intention.

We are delighted with the work carried out.
The area was left very tidy afterwards.

Phil Mitchell and his team dismantled a damaged fence, removed some overgrown plants and erected a new fence. They were friendly, reliable and efficient. They worked to a high standard and took away all the rubbish leaving the garden tidy.

Phil and his team lifted old artificial grass, replaced it with turf, lifted and disposed of two old decking areas, replaced the large area with composite decking and designed a lovely seat and planters for the smaller area.
I am delighted with the work carried out. Phil arrived when he said he would be there, the work was carried out to a high standard with no mess. I would recommend Phil and his team and would certainly contact them for any further work I needed. Excellent company.
