Business Information
First established in 1988, we are a local, family owned and ran company. We carry out landscaping projects both large and small for residential clients throughout the Lothians. We undertake a variety of gardens from initial design through the whole installation process to completion. We are TREX COMPOSITE DECKING PRO INSTALLERS - see Trex.com - and fit and supply both both timber and TREX composite decks, driveways, patios, walls, turfing and artificial grass installation, fencing, gravel and all forms of soft planting.
We also maintain and manage residential and private estates. We own machinery ranging from pedestrian to ride-on mowers with collection, out front ride-on mowers and tractors with mounted mowers. We currently own a Kubota F3680 61" out front mower, a John Deere 1545 62" out front mower, a Kubota F3090 60" with flail mower, a Kubota G21 48" and a Kubota G23 48" mid mounted mowers with collection and a Kubota L4240 tractor with 12' Trimax mower attached. All mowers are operated by trained staff giving the best, professional finish.
Our eldest son Lewis joined the company in 2016 and has excelled. His younger brother Ben joined in 2019 and they will form the future of the company. Initially called Philip Mitchell Landscaping, to reflect the input and the future ownership, in 2020 we decided to change the company name. Therefore as of February 2020 the trading name of the company was changed to Mitchell Landscaping and Ground Care Limited.

We have maintained the grounds of Gosford House for 30 years. We use several different machines for the different lawns throughout the estate.
Client wanted to changed a large 150 square metre patio to a more modern composite decked terrace. With additional planters, artificial grassed utility area and gravel grids.

We had an old fence and gate removed and replaced with new. From the beginning of the process Phil was very polite and professional and kept us well informed leading up to the start of the job. On the job itself Phil and his team were prompt and gave total respect to our property, going the extra mile to make sure everything was left as we’d want it. They provided a first class job and worked very hard to get it done in good time. We also have to mention the very competitive quote we received,we were very happy it. We will definitely use Mitchell Landscaping again for future projects and couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Initially I had a small patio area ksid in paving .
A few weeks later I extended this area which was laid in gravel as a drying area and the whole area was fenced in with a gate for access .
The additional work was completed very professionally in 1&1/2 days to my total satisfaction .

The standard of workmanship has been excellent with meticulous attention to detail. Phil, Lewis and Ben worked hard to complete the project quickly without compromising on the quality of the result. They went the extra mile to ensure all the junctions and details were done to perfection. The materials that were chosen were of a very high quality and sensitively blended with their contexts. Throughout the duration of the project, Mitchell Landscaping were always friendly, punctual, tidy and respectful. We are looking forward to using the paved area over the summer and beyond, and will enjoy having attractive and safe access around the house.

We had our entire back garden redone with new paving slabs and a patio, grass re-laid, raised beds built, and a mixture of shrubs and flowers planted in the raised beds and boundaries.
Phil was excellent and helped us with the entire design as we were not really sure where to begin. During the work him and his team where extremely professional, and the years of experience clearly shows in the quality of their work. They were also very accommodating to some last minute requests.
We are very happy with the end result and would definitely use them again for any future projects.

My front and side garden was cleared of old chippings and slabs, a weed membrane was laid then new gravel placed on top, all retained by a new timber edging.
I was delighted with the work Lewis and Ben carried out. They were polite, very hard working and completed the job in one and a half days.

The job was started and completed in 1 day .
Care was taken to protect the area and a tarpaulin was laid where the cement mixer and materials were laid .
The whole area was left clean and tidy after completion

Garden fence replaced. Old fence removed and new one put up. Phil and his sons did a fantastic job. They worked hard and were polite and friendly at all times. We are delighted with the new fence. They tidied up after and left the garden looking much better than before! We would highly recommend them and would definitely use them again.

We had our decking replaced by a composite product called TREX.
We are delighted with the smart new decking and stylish banisters. Phil Mitchell and sons worked studiously in a chilly week in November to install the new decking. They are hard working, professional, highly reliable and excellent to work with.

Phil and team built a new fence, back gate and trex decking, as well as generally sprucing up the garden.
Throughout the project Phil and co were extremely professional, kept me updated and really efficient. The work is really high standard and we’ve had compliments on it already as well as neighbours and friends asking for details of who done the work for their own jobs.

We approached Mitchell Landscaping to do considerable composite decking in our East Lothian garden. From initial contact to finalising work this Father and sons company were professional and good to have around. Our original decking plan evolved on site and is, very attractively, on 4 levels. The composite decking quality is outstanding, I have a couple of irks with how some of the filling in is done, a few small pieces run against grain, but Phil tells me that’s the product rather than his intention.
