I had an issue with my roof which resulted in a leak on my ceiling, I contacted J. Shearer Roofing and I am so glad I did.
I found the communication very good and staff were pleasant and helpful from the initial contact to completion of the work.
The roofers were hard working, polite young men who did a great job and left everything tidy when they had finished.
I would recommend this firm as I felt they were trustworthy and did a great job at a realistic and competitive price.

I had work carried out by Shearer and Co., last year when I had water ingress from the roof. I initially approached a number of roofers who failed to resolve the problem. One of my neighbours had instructed Shearer to do work on their roof. They advised me that they had been happy with the quality of their work.

I then asked Shearer to quote for the work which I required to have done. This work was carried out with considerable. expertise.

I was also impressed with the calibre of the administrative staff in your office. Nothing was too much trouble for them. When you asked for clarification of some matter they said that they would check the position and revert to me. And they did, promptly!

A few months later one of my chimneys was damaged following a storm. Once again the staff dealt with all aspects of the work in a very competent manner. I continued to be impressed with the professionalism of every member of staff with whom I came into contact.

Shearer roofing are a pleasure to deal with and their work is first class. We have used them for the last few years and they have reroofed our house and installed 2 velum windows. They turn up on time, do the job to a really high standard. Also they are extremely tidy workers and leave everything spick and span. Slates around skylight window were refitted. This stopped the leak we had in the back room. Very pleased with the quality of workmanship.

2 separate contracts - one to fix roof leak and one to replace lead flashing at chimney.
The jobs were carried out in an efficient and professional manner, just as you would expect them to be carried out. Good communications with head office during and post contract.

Work requested was to remove a skylight from the roof, replace with tiles and to secure any loose tiles. The repairs were carried out when we were on holiday, ahead of time and with the minimum of mess. Thanks to all concerned.

We had a front elevation of our house re roughcast in white stone chips. After some 25 years of battering by the elements, it looked dirty and parts were boss, in other words just waiting to fall off. The rest of the house was fine.
We considered having the whole house painted, but first needed to have the boss part re roughcast. This turned out less costly than painting and shouldn't need done again for many years whereas painting is probably a 5 year cycle.
The surveyor who came to price the job was very helpful and knowledgeable. He also did a very good job of matching the stone chips with the other elevations.
We were given a projected start date, some months ahead and were kept updated regularly. Scaffolding was erected at lightning speed, the job done over three days and the scaffolding removed, shortly thereafter.
Removal of roughcast is a dirty job, but the debris was all tidied up.

This was our first experience using J Shearer Roofing Ltd and will continue to use them in the future should the need arise.

The gutters and all external woodwork on our 1902 house were in need of repairs and painting.
I had had some difficulty in getting quotations from local companies, but when I contacted Shearers they sent someone promptly to assess the work needed. Their quotation was higher than I had expected but I was impressed by the thoroughness of their assessment and agreed for the work to proceed.
Although the timescale was considerably longer than originally stated, due to weather, supply issues and absenteeism due to Covid, the quality of the finished work was excellent.

As we have used the company before, Shearers visited at our request and showed us that various areas of our roof were needing attention. They provided picture evidence and a quotation before proceeding. The work was stripping out and re-pointing our ridge tiles, replacing 12 loose slates, cleaning the gutters, re-setting one of the gutters and securing a loose pvc facing with mastic sealant at one of our dormers. The work was completed to our satisfaction.
