I have been self employed now for over 35 years and strive to provide a professional, friendly, bespoke decorating service to customers old and new.
The family buisness was established in 1935 by grandfather George and my father Findlay then joined, so I am now the third generation painter and decorator to continue the buisness.
I can carry out all aspects of your decorating needs and I am happy to provide you with any advice and help with your decorating requirements.
I have invested in the latest technology to provide a dust free environment which eradicates mess to your premises but more importantly protects your health.
95% of the materials I use are now all water based, which provides a solvent free, environmentally friendly alternative to the outdated solvent based products.

Alistair has been decorating my house inside and outside for 23 years. He responds immediately to any requests and comes when he says he will come.
He takes an immense pride is his work and is meticulous. He explains what he is going to do and the reasons for using particular materials. If he finds any problem with the structure outwith the decorating he will advise you.
I trust him with my house keys and he has his own code for the burglar alarm.
I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Interior decoration of hall and staircase.
We have used Alistair's services several times over the years. As previously, the work on this project was carried out meticulously and the result is highly satisfactory. He not only carried out the decoration but was extremely helpful in moving furniture, pictures, curtains etc. The floor was very well protected and there was not a trace of damage to carpets and other floor covering..
As on previous occasions, he worked while we were away from home and, as always, was most trustworthy.
My wife and I cannot speak too highly of Alistair - not only as a tradesman but as a sociable and pleasant person.

Excellent job from Mr Strachan - master painter and decorator. It consisted of external redecoration of hassan boards, soffits, rones and attic windows, on a large detached Victorian property.
Preparation was meticulous and I was kept informed at all stages, regarding the type of paint, number of coasts, etc. I am extremely pleased with the end result.

I was very pleased with all aspects of having my exterior window frames and sills painted. The painter was helpful and friendly and took a great deal of trouble over all the details such as ensuring that the sash windows opened without sticking. Everything was left tidy with no mess once the work was finished.

I can't recommend Alistair enough. I left him with my keys while I was in another country. My house was immaculate on my return. The standard of work is exceptional. My house is very old and the area he was working on was in very poor condition. It looks brand new now. He is a lovely man who went above and beyond for us.

Alistair is so reliable, and so helpful. His work is immaculate. Very professional. The finish is flawless. He takes no time at all to do a good job. He gives you all the time you need to complete a job. Kitchen, stairwell and upstairs landing stripped and re-papered. Two ceiling areas painted twice with any cracks having been taped and sanded. All newly papered walls given two coats of paint. All woodwork prepared and given two coats of paint. Handrails on stair sanded and stained.
All work was carried out in a thoroughly professional manner. Alistair started work early every morning and worked for the whole day. We are very happy with everything and would be happy to recommend to others.

Painting of outside of ground floor flat - windowsills, frames, doors and down pipes
Very tidy work by 2 painters who explained reasons for all work undertaken. Some shrubs required to be cut back to gain access. This was done after permission was obtained and refuse tidied away. Very satisfactory result and we would have no hesitation in recommending them - not the cheapest but worth the extra.

Alistair was true to his word and very reliable about what the job involved, a great comfort as a customer. He explained the different properties of the paints he used and worked dilligently throughout as the work was weather dependent. He reassured me as to the fabric of the existing windows and was extremely conscientious in all he did, even offering to return and help open windows at a later date should they be stuck.
